Students have the chance to experience the process of portfolio management while they are learning the skills necessary to make sound portfolio decisions.
Thanks to a generous donation from Robert and Doris O’Neill, Willamette MBA students have the opportunity to manage our $500,000 O’Neill Student Investment Fund. We have returned more than $67,000 in scholarship dollars over the last 5 years to our students.
The investment process begins with a design of a global benchmark for the year. Students analyze economic, financial, and political developments and trends, and design an asset allocation model that combines U.S. industry sector view; a global regional view; and a risk model that represents the risk tolerance of the University and your classmates. At the end of each semester, students present investment results and outlooks to a panel of professional fund managers.
Students enrolled in the Student Investment Fund elective course have real-time access to professional financial information and a boardroom where they can discuss ideas, develop strategy, and make investments.

Industry Partners
We know our OSIF students are tomorrow’s leaders. Our industry partnerships play a crucial role in developing the hard and soft skills needed to compete in rapidly changing capital markets.
Our Industry Partners generously give to our student investors access to their time, research, tools, and capital market insights. We are deeply appreciative of their continued support and mentoring.
